Artist | Hobbyist | Varied
Izzy Ellis was born in Yellowknife, N.W.T., Canada, and was raised around the artistry of iconography, Botticelli, Ren & Stimpy, and comic books. Their art reflects this... diverse artistic background by being either painfully serious, completely absurd, or a little bit of both. After much moving around in Canada and going to many different schools, including co-operative home-schooling and a year in a boarding school, Izzy finally graduated high school at P.C.V.S. in Peterborough, Ontario with a focus on the arts. After graduating, they immediately went off to Ottawa in order to drop out of an animation/illustration course and then move back to Peterborough to live among the artists there for a few years before finally taking off for Toronto, where they at last came out publicly as trans and began to focus on their artwork.
Aside from a few high-school classes and their short stint in Ottawa, Izzy is mainly an autodidact--doodling and drawing since they were old enough to hold a pencil, and more or less sticking with that medium until they learned about the world of digital art. Most of what they do now is all done digitally and posted online.
Their art often focuses on feelings of confusion, frustration, or anxiety but they take great care to try an make sure they don't lose their sense of humour about themself. They enjoy colours, absurd art, starting to write comics while never finishing them, creating characters for novels and comics that will never be written, coffee, and pineapples. They do not enjoy drawing backgrounds, or the sound a fork makes when you scratch it across a plate.
COMMISSIONS: I do commissions and nearly everything I do is done from scratch on my PC (I do pencil/ink work as well, but not often). Since my supply costs are relatively low, rates will vary but are reasonable (gotta eat).
